I can hardly believe that my Muse gig is behind me. I don't have pictures yet because my aunt is the one who took them and she'll probably upload them tonight or tomorrow. I'll make another post for the pictures and videos when I get them.

2pm. My aunt texts me that she's leaving her office and is on her way to pick me up.
2:30pm, we leave my house to meet with my sister to pick her up and then proceed to go get my cousin at her high school for 3:30.
3:40pm, we have my cousin, we're all there, but the widget to make my iPod play in the car is broken. The radio works half of the time. There is no way we go without music with the broken muffler of the car (which we named Mr Muffler and made talk... don't judge us).
4:15pm, we FINALLY leave Montreal for good, with a new widget and an extensive Muse playlist. I receive this on my phone and we all squeal because "OH MY GOD THAT IS OUR HOTEL HOLY SHIT THEY ARE TOTALLY SLEEPING THERE TOO". Our logic, it is impressive.

6:00pm, I turn on the GPS because we are approaching Quebec City.
6:35pm, we enter Quebec City and that's when things get bad. Not only did the GPS had a speech impediment ("In 400 met-t-ters, t-t-t-turn right") but it couldn't find the entrance of the hotel. Finding the hotel wasn't hard, I mean... it's sort of hard to miss. After getting lost in the small surrounding streets for twenty minutes, we stop to get something to eat and then, finally, find the entrance of the hotel.

7pm, we check into the hotel and I have a moment of acting all important because we used my credit card, which meant the room was under my name. We run to our room, gasp at how beautiful it is, put down our things and leave. We're on a tight schedule.
8pm, we finally get to the Colisée Pepsi. I am unimpressed by the size of it. The merch stand is a real nightmare and I realise too late they are selling the same shirts than in Montreal. I am feeling grumpy and annoyed.

We get to our seats and then I really feel like crying. We were behind the stage. Completely behind it. I knew the tickets weren't good but I didn't expect to be BEHIND THE BLOODY STAGE. (more on that later)

We missed the opening act, Metric, but we were expecting it. From what I heard around me, though, they weren't that good. We put on our green glow in the dark bracelets, as planned by a group of amazing people on Facebook, and then we wait. And wait. I'm getting restless and then We Are The Universe begins and I lose it.

I'll get over the setlist already before I forget.

They played another Led Zeppelin (since Who Knows Who is inspired by Heartbreaker) riff but I can't remember which one and when they did. I think it was Whole Lotta Love. And they played another riff but that one I didn't recognize it. I know it was a popular song, but my memory fails me.

So. Matt was wearing his sequin suit and glasses that have lights on them. He is bonkers and I love it. Dom had his now usual glittery spandex suit. Chris had a turquoise sort of shimmering suit.

What can I say. It was absolutely mental. They were really energetic and into it. Their nine days off did them really good. When they left the stage after Plug In Baby, before the encores, the arena was completely dark. All you could see were the thousands of glow in the dark bracelets. That's when people started throwing theirs on the stage. In no time, the stage was covered in green bracelets. It was really gorgeous.

They come back, and at the end of Stockholm Syndrome (I THINK. I COULD BE WRONG. MY MEMORY FAILS ME), Matt started swinging the Glitterati over his head before throwing it into the drums. Dom barely had time to duck before it landed on a hi-hat, bounced to hit an amp and then fell to the ground. Many, many people gasped and I may have yelled "NOT THE GLITTERATI AGAIN".

The outro of Knights of Cydonia was seriously epic. They jammed longer than usual and yeah, it was awesome.

All in all, it wasn't as good as the Montreal gig. The venue was smaller and therefore the lasers and lights were less impressive. Also, I guess that being seated behind the stage sort of killed my mood, versus in Montreal where I was in the pit. Then again, this time, the pit had ROWS OF CHAIRS, which seriously killed the mood. And, all things considered, my seat wasn't that bad. I was close to the stage and they really took care of us with crap tickets. They alternated facing the front and the back. Also, I may or may not have been able to stare at their arses for two hours. Not to mention Dom's back. Finally, my seat was pretty good.

And now, the post-gig events. We left the arena by the first door we could find. We were about to call a taxi when I noticed how five or six people were waiting by a fence. And that past that fence, there were 15 vans. And in the distance, a huge bus. And a black mini-van that looked perfect to discreetly drive people around town. And that technicians were carrying boxes of equipment through the closest door. I squealed, grabbed my sister, aunt and cousin, and we decided to wait.

It was all fun and games but eventually, the reality of the weather dawned on us.

That's 35 degrees Fahrenheit. Add wind and humidity to this and we were not happy campers. But still, I started talking with this guy from the Muse boards (I totally lied and said I was a member too) but he turned out to be a snob and the kind of people who think that past Origin of Symmetry, all they did isn't good. He was like "yeah, but you know, all that Guitar Hero crap and they played way too many songs from The Resistance *cue disdain*" and it's a shame because he was really cute. My sister and cousin kept saying we were meant to be because he kept feeding his friend with the same Muse trivia I told them in the car. But yeah, moving on.

At one point, after maybe half an hour, one of the security guards came to tell us that no one knew whether they would come out in 15 minutes or three hours. No one said a word; he had just confirmed we were waiting by the right door.

Another half hour later, this guy walks closer and a girl calls to him. She asks if he has "information". He hesitates for a moment then walks closer. We all form a circle around him.

"I know that the tallest one," we all said 'Chris!' at the same time, "won't come out. He's very ill so he'll be heading for the hotel soon. They weren't sure he would be able to do the show earlier today. They tried to visit the city but after a while, he couldn't do it anymore and went back to bed. So he's heading to the hotel soon and sure as hell won't stop to talk to you. The other two are doing a radio interview right now, no one knows how long it'll last. But after that, they, too, are heading straight for the hotel." He paused for a while and then added: "You have more chance to see them at the hotel. They're down at the Concorde. I didn't tell you this."

Just to be sure, I asked him: "What are our chances of seeing them here, then?"
"1 over 500."

I sighed, thanked him and we jumped in a taxi. As soon as we were in, I asked the driver if the Concorde was close to the Château Frontenac. He said it was two minutes away from it and then asked why. I explained and he said, sounding sorry: "There's no way you'll see them. They'll have them enter by the underground parking and they won't even let you get near the hotel. I'm sorry."

When he said close, he really meant it, huh?

Poor little Chris. It didn't show, though, that he was sick. He was as energetic as usual. Professional or what?

By the time we got back to the hotel room, I had received a few tweets from Muse. In case you haven't seen them, here they are.

Whoever did this is awesome.
While we were freezing outside...
Bananas, a pineapple, carrots (??) and a bottle of wine. They know how to party. Also, once again, MY HOTEL.

So we went back to our hotel room and went to bed. THE HEATING WAS BROKEN IN THE ROOM. You'd think that in a five star hotel, they'd make sure it works, but no. No heating. Or barely any. I was freezing all night, barely slept and then it was time to get up and go back to Montreal. My sister had a class at 12:10pm. We arrived at her school at 12:06pm. We have the best timing ever.

Since the hotel room was cold as hell (wow, you rock at figures of speech, Caro), I only really warmed up when I took a shower earlier today. NOT COOL.

So, to resume this evening, I would say that this was that one time when I almost met Muse and froze my arse off in a castle.

And now, the pictures I took myself. It's one failed attempt at the gig and then the view from our hotel room. Just because it looked like Hogwarts.

I wanted a picture of the rainbow smoke at the end of Knights of Cydonia but couldn't put my camera on, like the idiot I am. Never bring a new phone to a show.

As I said, more pictures soon.
