I had an amazing night. Seriously, one of the best shows I've been to. I know, I know, I say it for almost every shows I go to but this one, I think it. I would do anything to go back.

The day had been pretty shitty. I was sick (sinus infection), I had had an awful night of sleep and had to get up at 6am. My PE teacher had lectured me because I wasn't playing any games and yeah, shitty.

My friend Valérie, my sister and I left my house at 6:30pm. The doors were opening at that time and the show was beginning at 8pm. We all agreed that we didn't give a damn about the opening acts and the venue is so small that we knew we would end up near the stage anyways. We were ready to push our way to the front if necessary.

We reached the venue around 7:15pm, after waiting for a bus for 15 minutes in an Arctic-like cold. We'd warm up a little in the subway but once at the right station, we had to walk for around 10 minutes to reach the venue.

We got there, left our coats at the coatcheck then headed for the merch kiosk. The first opening act, Hey Monday, was already playing when we got there. I'll come back to them later.

My sister and Valérie both bought a shirt but I kept my money for a CSS shirt, Wednesday. Then, bathrooms to put them on and back down to the floor level.

As we saw that the place was like EmoFest, Valérie and I doubted we would survive it (we are both still recovering from our year spent in Emo Land) sober so we headed for the bar and each bought a Smirnoff Ice (7$, ffs) and drank it quite quickly. We were ready to rock.

Note before I start the picspam: Some of the pictures were taken by my friend. She greatly accepted to let me use them (as she doesn't use LiveJournal). I'll mention it when they are hers).

The first opening act was Hey Monday. I don't have any pictures of them as half of their set was already passed when I reached the venue, and the other half was spent with a Smirnoff glass in my hands, hence no pictures. It sounded a bit like a wannabe Paramore though. They had some catchy songs but overall, not enough to make me buy the record.

The second act was Carolina Liar. One word: EMO. Some of their lyrics, god.

The only good picture I have of them. I was still testing my cam, flash/no flash, etc.

While we were waiting for We The Kings to come, they played some awesome songs, such as some Blink 182, I can't remember the title but it says 'I met a girl at the rock show'. I guess it's Rock Show but I can't be sure. They also played Mr. Brightside and Valérie and I sang along and invented a choreography to go with it. My sister was pretending not to know us.

We The Kings. Catchy songs, yet again not good enough for me to buy the record. They had quite a lot of fans in the crowd though. The singer was a redhead. He was funny. And the guitarist looked like a character from a local sitcom and it killed me.

Let It Be shirt!

Now, The Academy Is...
Wow. I wasn't such a big fan before (I was, in fact, more of a William Beckett fan...) but they blew me away.

I don't remember all the songs they played, and some of them I didn't know them because I didn't have the last record.
The ones I do remember are:
Summer Hair = Forever Young
Slow Down
Black Mamba
The Phrase That Pays
Neighbors
About a Girl
We've Got a Big Mess on Our Hands
Everything We Had
Down and Out
Winter Passing (a new one!)
His Girl Friday
Checkmarks
The rest, I can't remember. They played around an hour and a half.
Now, picspam! (aka William Beckett spam, honestly. He's too gorgeous/sexy for his own good. I tell you, he's sex on legs)

Photobucket During Down and Out. One of the best moment of the night.

Photobucket I think this one is really, really cool. Michael Chislett.

Photobucket He got off the stage and climbed on the fence. He really wants to get raped...

Photobucket (Valérie's picture) He's so adorable. Also, bulge. I love tight pants on boys.

Photobucket (Valérie's) Really manly pose, Beckett...

I said it already but I had a blast. Once the gig was over, I ran to the merch kiosk to buy their latest record, Fast Times at Barrington High. When you gave them tips, you could get a free poster. I gave 5$ and got three of them. They had mistakes on them. It killed me. Like, it said the Montreal gig was at Le Métropolis when it was at Le Medley. And it said Vancouver was in Ontario.

The record. Run to buy it. No, really. RUN. It's really, really amazing. It has this like high school vibe. It's kickass.

Memorable quote of the night:

William: "Butcher, what's your favorite part of Montreal."
The Butcher: "The French girls."
*crowd goes crazy*
William: "You mean the Canadian girls who speak French *crowd goes crazier*, the French Canadian girls!"
(My sister understood "French toasts".)

William fell on stage. It was really funny. I thought he had done it on purpose but when he got back up, Mike Carden was laughing his ass off. He hurt his elbow, poor thing.

The Butcher played a "speed metal" drum solo for the guys in the crowd. William was all "Don't worry guys, I see you!". The crowd was like 85% of girls. Luckily, not much fangirls.d

William also apologized for cancelling the previous show scheduled in Mtl. Then he said it was the first time they were headlining here. Then he said this show was on his top 3 of the most fun he'd had.
Montreal fans are known for being crazy, in a good way. We rock.

The Phrase That Pays (the sound is muffled, I had my finger on the mic most of the time <.<)
Black Mamba
Winter Passing

That's for the ones on youtube.
