Best of 2008
Dec. 27th, 2008 07:03 pmDun dun dun here it comes, my best of 2008!
Best album
After several hours of debating, I stopped my choice on If by Mindless Self Indulgence. I can never get tired of listening to it. It is also associated to a great event of my life, aka my trip to the USofA, as it comes from the Virgin Megastore on Times Square.
Best book
I have to say Breaking Dawn, because not a lot of books were released this year, no? I'm not as proud of being a Twilighter as I was before the movie was released. I read the books almost a year ago, when it was still unknown (in Canada, that is) so now I don't really brag about it, because I'll sound like all those teenies drooling over Rob Pattinson. (Who is ugly, might I point out)
Best movie
I appear to be the only one on the surface of planet Earth who didn't love The Dark Knight. No, my choice goes to Tout est parfait (Everything is perfect), a Quebec movie about a teenager who's friends all killed themselves, and his struggle to go on with life. Shivers, tears, and the sudden urge to call all my friends, tell them I love them and blackmail them, saying that if they kill themselves I'm going to die. The trailer (only in French, I apologize)
Best music DVD
Serious tie between The Black Parade is Dead and Panic at the Disco... Live in Chicago.
I can't decide. Both are really good. So yeah, both.
Best show I've been too
Ugh. It has to be Mindless Self Indulgence. For weeks, I couldn't chose between TAI and MSI and Flogging Molly. But, when I consider it again, MSI was the best. And meeting Kitty and Steve afterwards = <3
Best band discovery
MSI. I became fan of lots of bands that year, but I already knew them all. Cobra Starship, Fall Out Boy, The Academy Is..., Panic at the Disco, I knew them all already. I just got more into them, that's all. But MSI, I never heard of them before late 2007, and really fell in love when I bought If in May.
Best thing of 2008
This one, I didn't really think about it. But, I'll be fully unoriginal and say Obama. As a close neighbor of the USofA, and as the citizen of a country who followed Bush in his useless war, I can only be happy to see that someone with a brain is going to be at the head of the country.
Otherwise, I'd say Lyn-Z's pregnancy.
MCR's website turning into a geek fest.
Yeah.
Worst news of 2008
David Tennant won't be the Doctor in the next Doctor Who series. This is the end of the world, I tell you.
I'm kidding. I'd say, the Conservative Party winning the elections in Canada. They are not majoritary (if you don't know how the Parliament system works, don't bother trying to understand), but still. Some light was cast when the opposition parties talked about doing a coalition and take over the government, but Harper closed the chambers and reported the assemblies to January. Let's wish they'll do it. Politics in Canada sucks.
C'mon, Charest was re-elected in Quebec. Where are we going?
Or no, the recession.
Or no, the never-ending war in the Middle East.
What a good year.
That'll be it. I have no inspiration left.
